Our very special travelling postcard!

Way back before the school broke up for the Summer break, we set the children a challenge to send the school a postcard from a place they visited. Following our return in September, we thought that we had received them all, but on Tuesday 29th September, the postman delivered a very special package.

It would seem that the postcard that Phoebe Duggan, one of our Year 4 pupils, sent from Devon during the holidays, went on a very special journey of its own and ended up being delivered to a school in Australia. The Headteacher of Doncaster Primary School in Melbourn, Australia decided to send it back to us and let us know the extraordinary journey that the postcard had been on as well as enclosing some lovely gifts including a picture book, Possum Magic and some information about their school. They had also asked their youngest children to write postcards to our Reception children.

We are planning on writing back to the children at Doncaster Primary School in Australia and hopefully we can establish links with this school. We have contacted the local newspapers and they will be publishing this in next week's papers. Pictured above is Phoebe (second from the left) with her classmates and some of the items sent back from Australia. What makes this even more special is that Phoebe is in Class Australia (the class name for Y3/4) and this has been an excellent (albeit mistaken) way of learning more about this wonderful part of the world.
