Safe Parking

Please see the message below that was sent out on the 22nd october 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had many of you contacting us regarding parking issues outside the school this week.  We are aware that it is very difficult to find a space when dropping children off at school and do sympathise with this problem if it is essential that you bring your car to the school.  However, the safety of our children is paramount.  None of us want to have to face the devastating news that there has been an accident, particularly when this could have been avoided if we had taken care when using the roads around the school.

We ask that you do not park on the yellow zig-zags outside the school.  These are to keep the area designated as a safe space.  There is the argument that these are not deemed as enforceable, but they are there to keep your children safe and is the reason that we spent time contacting highways to have these safety measures put in place.  If parents have any exemptions such as  a blue badge, we do have a designated space in the school car park for dropping off and picking up. Please do use this space, but we ask that parents do not use the staff car park unless they have this reason as it is a very busy pedestrian area at the beginning and end of the day.

If you do see cars being parked inappropriately then, in line with guidance from our local PCSOs, please do take photographs of the offending vehicles and pass these on to the police as they will deal with it from there as a police matter.

Mr Eden has been in recent contact with the PCSOs who are arranging visits to the streets around school at drop off and collection times in order to heighten the policing around this issue.

Thank you for your support.  I know that we can work together to keep Ancaster safe for all of our children.

Have a lovely half term break.

Thank you and best wishes,

Debra Moore
